ABC 24 interviewed Steve for his take on DA Amy Weirich’s private reprimand by the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility.
By coming to an agreement with the Board, Weirich was able to avoid a public hearing in which a panel could potentially have dismissed the case, or publicly censured, suspended, or even disbarred her.
Even so, the cat’s out of the bag. “Once you announce you received a private reprimand it becomes public,” Steve said. He also added that this is another instance in a pattern of Weirich’s DA mishandling a case.
“It’s not so good where we have yet another instance where we have a defendant’s rights who were violated, and a conviction had to be overturned,” said Mulroy.
