On January 17, Steve attended a lunch that he cosponsored at Paramount Restaurant in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr, Day. At the lunch were relatives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Jacob Blake, who were visiting Memphis for MLK Day weekend.

Steve spoke with these guests who have suffered unimaginable losses to police brutality, listening to their stories and learning from their experiences. Together, they discussed the need for criminal justice reform in Shelby County, to honor the memory of those who have been killed, and to make Memphis fairer and safer for future generations.
