Pledge on Government Ethics
I WILL:
- Put forth honest effort in the performance of my duties and act in the best interests of the electorate at all times;
- Act impartially and not give preferential treatment to any private organization or individual. Treat each constituent fairly;
- Protect and conserve Government property and use it only for authorized activities;
- Disclose waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption to appropriate authorities;
- Abide by all local, state and federal laws in my private and public life;
- Satisfy in good faith my financial obligations as a citizen;
- Adhere to all laws and regulations that provide equal opportunity for all Americans regardless of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, or handicap;
- Endeavor to avoid any actions creating the appearance of violating the law or these ethical principles; and
- Avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest.
I WILL NOT:
- Use public office for private gain;
- Hold financial interests that conflict with the conscientious performance of duty;
- Engage in private financial transactions using nonpublic Government information or allow the improper use of such information to further any private interest;
- Solicit or accept any gift, gratuity or other item of monetary value, in accordance with statute or regulation, from any person or entity seeking official action or doing business with, or conducting activities with the Government;
- Make any unauthorized commitments or promises of any kind purporting to bind the Government; and
- Engage in outside employment or activities, including seeking or negotiating for employment, that conflict with official Government duties and responsibilities
