Steve at the July 2009 "reunveiling" of the Memphis Libertyland Liberty Bell, an exact replica of the real Liberty Bell created in 1976 to commemorate the bicentennial. After the Mid-South Fair took it to Misssisippi, Steve helped a group of concerned citizens get it back so it could be displayed in Memphis for citizens of Shelby County to see.

Steve serves as MC at the Campus School Family Gathering. Steve wrote and directed a skit demonstrating the school’s motto of “PRIDE,” an acronym for various virtues taught at this public elementary school in Memphis. Steve and wife Amy are active in the Parent-Teacher Organizations at both Campus (where rising fifth-grader Quinn attends) and White Station Middle (home to rising 8th-grader Molly).
At the Campus School Family Gathering, Steve leads some dubious parents in dancing the chorus to “Soljah Boy,” the hip-hop hit seemingly known by every kid in America. The elementary school audience’s reaction ranged from delight to mortification.
Steve performs at the Memphis Gridiron Show, an annual spoof of local politics by the media and others, with proceeds to go to scholarships. For the first time since the annual show’s 1293 debut, Steve organized a "rebuttal" skit and song where politicos poked fun at the media. In addition to the skit, they sang "Leak On Me," a plea from the media to the tune of "Lean On Me."

2006: At the June 13 Libertyland press conference, Steve calls on Mayor Herenton to heed the City Council and keep city-owned Libertyland rides from being sold by the Mid-South Fair corporation. The week before, Steve persuaded the City Council to vote 12-1 to save the rides from such a sale. Also supporting Libertyland are (from left) State Sen.
